Print Data Preparation

We kindly ask you to ensure strict compliance with the following pre-press guidelines in the interest of fast order processing and the production and implementation schedule. It will enable us to provide you with the best possible print result quickly and reliably.

Data formats and application programmes

We use the latest version of the Adobe®-CS range in our Macintosh-based workflow.

Please provide print-optimised PDF files. If you send us open data, please remember to include all of the corresponding components (fonts and images). However, in this event we must insist you contact us beforehand to avoid any extra costs.

  • The attachment or document format should ideally be scaled 1:10. A scale of 1:1 is only possible for print formats of less than 1 m². Everything else must be in proportion to the end format.
  • A bleed of at least 1 per cent of the print format is required for each motif.
  • If you want a duplex production or require pole pockets, please call our pre-press department.
  • Do not use register crosses or crop marks or any other print information.
  • Remove any unused pages, page elements and unused files.
  • Avoid double pages in the layout programme.
  • All of the required fonts (printer and screen fonts) must be included with the documents.
  • Use PostScript fonts whenever possible and always vectorise TrueType fonts.
  • Convert artistic font styles (shadowing, outlines, etc.) into paths.
  • All fonts and images included in EPS formats must still be provided separately.
  • In general, all fonts in vector-oriented applications must be converted into paths/curves.
  • Do not use any fill patterns that are not postscript compatible.
  • State all colours in CMYK mode and convert spot colours and special colours to CMYK.
  • Reproductions of Pantone, RAL and HKS spot colours are approximates only.
  • We will determine the approximation values for PANTONE information by agreement.
  • Pixel-oriented data such as EPS or TIFF must be compressed (EPS with JPG encoding max. quality, TIFF with LZW compression).
  • Do not use image formats such as PICT, GIF, WMF or colour spaces such as "indexed colours" and LAB.
  • Avoid embedded colour profiles.

    Quality assurance

An exactly positioned print (correct cutting edges, position of the document/image and so on) or a PDF for checking purposes must be provided for checking the layout. If you place particular value on colour conformity between print and original and insofar as this is technologically possible, please include a binding colour proof. We can provide a sample print of your data on the original material at your request and expense.

    Image resolution

  • Board printing (acrylic glass, PVC boards, aluminium composite, etc.)
    Scale 1:10
    720 dpi
  • Web printing (PVC tarps, netting, etc.)
    Scale 1:10
Printed surface up to 5 m² at least 720 dpi
Printed surface from 5 m² to 40 m² 360-720 dpi
Printed surface from 40 m² at least 180 dpi
  • High resolution web printing (small-format applications, adhesive films, etc.)
    Scale 1:10
720 dpi up to a maximum of 1,440 dpi possible

    Data transmission

Label the data carrier (CD/DVD, etc.) and always designate a contact partner to handle queries.
Use only alphanumeric characters and never use special characters/umlauts in your file names. To facilitate the allocation of your files please use suffixes (e.g. jpg, pdf etc.). This rule applies to your data carriers and to transfers using the following methods:

    Email

In general, you should always use our FTP service for transferring print data. Files serving the purpose of documentation may be sent by email. The maximum file size for emails is 10 MB. Please use our FTP service to transfer larger files.

    FTP service

Copy the data to be sent into a folder and name it according to the job and customer name. Use Stuffix to compress Mac data to a .sit or .sea file. Compress Windows PC data to a .zip file using WinZip. Naming the files correctly is very important (do not use any special characters or umlauts).

Create a text file and document the programme or platform used to generate the data.
Please contact us to receive the access details for our FTP server.
